Further needle punch, Dysperse dyes

 

These are my sketches and physical sketches of the panelled/or not panelled curtain inspired piece that I am working on. The needle punch is taking on a life of its own and is moving beyond or away from my initial pared back sketch of the t-shirt outline on the organza curtain.

My feeling is to create two art works. One which is more suggestive and open to interpretation and the other that is clearer and more design led.

I have been playing with the panels, what fabrics should overlay what and considering layers, whether they are physical or created through needle punch.

I want the work to illicit memory, and I need to think about how to be successful in this.

These are samples using the Dysperse dye which works on non-organic textile. I don't normally work in synthetic fabric, but in this instance it has been useful and offers up a wider selection of approaches perhaps. The textiles are all used or preowned so I don't feel so guilty.
