What does my work mean, and why is it like it is?

Thinking about an armature for my work, it is made up of many items, is this disparate or are they under a whole, do they = a greater work. 

How to frame and present the works. 

Often I am told I need to keep going and keep pushing myself but I don’t know where I am going (as no one does) and when will I arrive? And what part do I push since I am interested in so many things. I can only assume that keep working and making and thinking and I will reach a point where hindsight may even show me the way?

Or do things need to go bigger, do I need to invest more time over a method of working - so the development isn’t necessarily development of the grand idea, but on a process. OR is my process the multitude of ideas, much like last semester, I correlated them all and worked through the list. If this applies to all projects then maybe it is less surface scratchy.
