Folding, discarding

I can't get Folds out of my head. I love things that are unloved by others. And I love the idea that the works are folded and this makes you want to know whats inside or underneath, but you can't.

Folded and piled work. Found lists found their way onto a discarded piece of  textile in my studio from a curtain I have been taking apart.

53 Table Linen, a textile bundle I purchased. Potential for panels, folds, use as canvas, book pages etc.

The washing

Folded pile items purchased in a Charity shop. Testing colours, display, sculptural qualities.

Folded personal lists, continuation from last semester. Not as heavily stitched, more fragile but opens up more layers.

Sister's Socks. Thinking of the early noughties, I for some reason have three pairs of my sister's old socks (from this time). In an issue of Elle decoration it was recommended that you make a cushion on  a budget from bubble wrap and old textiles etc. I was unpacking something and folded the socks inside the packing material.

Old pants. Similar, but with my old pants. Asks a few questions; Why? How old? How used?

Folded painted tissue paper. A test. Painting thin tissue (again repurposed from packing material) with my tester pots. I folded them still wet which adhered them together, although a little weighty so lost the height.

Unknown photo of a folded table linen. Simply folded but displaying formal qualities, muted hues, leading lines, a minimalist aesthetic.
