Stitched ‘Personal List’
Patchworking with paper. To aid this I wetted the paper to try an achieve some kind of loose bond making it easier to work with. This was beneficial at this stage since I was patchworking such an area. I wanted some control over the layout. I could alternatively have patched piece by piece.
The piece then dried out extremely quickly and half blew across the garden, no matter! I used my favourite brown tape to reattach them. (adding my visual language)
My personal Lists, collected during the Lockdown.
Once this has been stitched together will I add more of my lists, until this piece is enormous?
I like the idea of folding the work, much like how I find lists...then the work could be less cumbersome.
Reminds me of Minimalism - for example Agnes Martin’s pared down colour ways.
I am stitching the work, slowly, in dries and drabs, the stitches alter in length and style each time I work.
Using the limited yarns collected just before we went into Lockdown (panic buying), I think this creates a colour palate and it is also referred across the works I have been stitching. Again thinking about the visual language.
Limitation of materials thrills me.
