Firing native clay

https://ryanchengpottery.com/blog/2018/5/30/charcoal-firing-and-palm-sized-kilns-march-2018

First attempt at firing pots at home. Unfortunately I forgot to get a photo of the pots in the sawdust but never mind. In the kiln are 5 native clay pieces, a red earthenware jug and a porcelain bowl. Which should give me an idea of what works and what doesn’t. If anything works! Due to availability of materials in a city I have chosen to try a charcoal firing. With a bed of sawdust and ordinary BBQ charcoals on top. I let the flame die out and then put a roof tile on top.

  1. Will update with the kiln opening ceremony.

The porcelain did not fully fire.
