Crystallography and wall paper design. Helen Megaw an x-ray crystallography thought the patterns were very suited to wall paper designs due to their repetitive nature.
'Festival Pattern Group' 1949-51 created prints to be used at the Great Exhibition
Normally wall papers were inspired by nature or greek/classical design
